The plans were passed subject to car parking spaces being increased to 100 from the original plan of 64.

Perhaps one of you may read this and maybe even have the balls to explain to us what motivates morons like you to do things like this. Then again being the morons that you are - you probably either can't read or would be incapable of formulating a reply. Does it ever strike people (I use the term loosely) like you that organisations like ours do not exist for the goodness of our health - although healthy sport does help. The club is there to serve the community - a community which sadly includes you - and provide good healthy sport and companionship for people of all ages from 6 to 60 (and probably beyond in the case of some of the bowlers) - and actions such as yours make this increasingly difficult.

But, we will not be defeated, morons like you will not force us out - we have faced far greater challenges than you lot and we're still here now. Stocks will be replenished, the club will go on and we will go from strength to strength.

Perhaps the CCTV will show your faces, perhaps not - we'll soon see. In the meantime drop us a note let us know why - we dare you, have you got the bottle ??

The club has been in existence for over 50 years and has been consistently successful winning many trophies in that period.

The club currently runs :-
2 teams in the Horwich Bowling League
2 teams in the Adlington Bowling League
1 team in the Chorley Bowling League
1 team in the Bolton & District Bowling League, and
1 team in the Bolton Municipal Bowling League.

New members are always welcome, and it is hoped that the relocation will in the future enable us to set up a coaching scheme to encourage more youngsters to take up the sport.

The club currently consists of three sections - bowls, cricket and rugby - but in the past catered for many other sports when the old British Aerospace factory at Lostock was at it's peak. Since the closure of the factory most of the sections have closed down leaving just the three on the site at Lostock Lane.

The club has been battling against closure for the last ten years or so as the playing fields were sold on and our existence threatened. When plans for the re-development of the site were submitted, a condition of the development was that the sports club was found a new location, and one of the aims of this website will be to follow those developments over the coming months via the Relocation page, and also eventually photo galleries etc.

]]>Rugbyhttp://lostocksc.wetpaint.com/page/Rugbylostockhttp://lostocksc.wetpaint.com/page/RugbyFri, 23 Feb 2007 07:16:37 CST(Taken in part from the Lostock Rugby FC website)Lostock Rugby Club has its origins in the social and sporting camaraderie of the post World War II era of the late 40's and early 50's, when workers from the then De Havilland Propellers, played rugby on an ad-hoc basis against other factories mainly within the De Havilland group. These games were deemed to have great prestige. Obviously, with a vast amount of the 4,000 workers coming from Wigan and the surrounding area, the teams were full of natural talent and were very successful.
 Building on this success, in 1956 the Sports and Social club allowed the players to form a rugby section, and rugby at Lostock took off. Fielding 3 teams a week, many successfull years followed, even with the name changes, firstly to Hawker Siddley and then to British Aerospace. The frequent name changes prompted the rugby club to adopt the location of the sports grounds at Lostock as the club name. In the mid 80's the name Lostock was lodged with the Rugby Football Union. For all these years the playing members of the club had only to fund the travelling expenses and the laundry bill, with everything else being provided for by the company and the Sports and Social club.
 However in the early 90's, with the ending of the "cold war", things at the Lostock factory changed dramatically. British Aerospace reduced its workforce by nearly 3,000. This left the rugby club struggling for a player base and funding. Eventually, in 1997, British Aerospace withdrew all funding and issued a notice to quit the sports grounds stating that they would develop the grounds for building. Led by the club's senior members, it was decided to fight this threat of development. From that moment on, a small group, mainly rugby players, fought to keep open the sports grounds, and in addition became responsible for the upkeep and maintenance which had previously cost Aerospace £30,000 per annum. At present the club is still fighting the closure of the ground by trying to secure the tenure of the land which would not only allow for the continuation of the club but also the development and extension of the club by including mini rugby and junior / youth teams.

The club currently runs three senior men's teams, a ladies XI, and junior sides at under 11, 13, 15, 17 & 18 age groups. The 1st & 2nd XI and under 18's play in the Manchester & District Association, the 3rd XI in the Horwich Churches & Welfare Cricket Association, the Ladies XI compete in the Lancashire Womens League, and the other junior sides all play in the Bolton & District Cricket Association.
